Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

757 wave-buoy observations covered 24 of 30 days (80%). Typical wave height was 3 ft (10th–90th percentile 1.7–6.6 ft), while mean average of more than one wave period type was 6.9 seconds (10th–90th percentile 3.7–11.8 seconds). Mean water temperature was 10.4°C (10th–90th percentile 8.3–12.1°C). 1 of 3,013 checked values (0%) were excluded by quality control. Across 5 comparable years, mean wave height was above the same-month mean of 2.8 ft and mean wave period was above the same-month mean of 6.5 seconds.

About Chapel Point wave buoy

Chapel Point is a Channel Coastal Observatory wave station off the Lincolnshire coast near Chapel St Leonards. Its shallow North Sea setting records conditions approaching a low-lying, heavily managed sandy frontage north of Skegness, supporting flood and erosion monitoring.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread, wave power and sea temperature.
