Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

1,483 wave-buoy observations covered all 31 days. Typical wave height was 3 ft (10th–90th percentile 1.4–5.2 ft), while mean average of more than one wave period type was 5.9 seconds (10th–90th percentile 3–11.1 seconds). Mean water temperature was 7.6°C (10th–90th percentile 6.8–8°C). 18 of 5,911 checked values (0.3%) were excluded by quality control. Across 13 comparable years, mean wave height was above the same-month mean of 2.9 ft and mean wave period was below the same-month mean of 6.7 seconds.

About Chapel Point wave buoy

Chapel Point is a Channel Coastal Observatory wave station off the Lincolnshire coast near Chapel St Leonards. Its shallow North Sea setting records conditions approaching a low-lying, heavily managed sandy frontage north of Skegness, supporting flood and erosion monitoring.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread, wave power and sea temperature.
