Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

1,428 wave-buoy observations covered all 30 days. Typical wave height was 2 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.7–3.7 ft), while mean average of more than one wave period type was 6.2 seconds (10th–90th percentile 3.4–10.5 seconds). Mean water temperature was 9.9°C (10th–90th percentile 8.6–11.3°C). 16 of 5,684 checked values (0.3%) were excluded by quality control. Across 11 comparable years, mean wave height was below the same-month mean of 2.7 ft and mean wave period was below the same-month mean of 6.6 seconds.

About Chapel Point wave buoy

Chapel Point is a Channel Coastal Observatory wave station off the Lincolnshire coast near Chapel St Leonards. Its shallow North Sea setting records conditions approaching a low-lying, heavily managed sandy frontage north of Skegness, supporting flood and erosion monitoring.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread, wave power and sea temperature.
