Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

1,391 wave-buoy observations covered all 29 days. Typical wave height was 2 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.9–3 ft), while mean average of more than one wave period type was 11.2 seconds (10th–90th percentile 4.6–15.9 seconds). Typical calculated wave power was approximately 1.2 kW/m (10th–90th percentile 0.2–2.6 kW/m), derived from significant wave height and energy period. 115 of 2,782 checked values (4.1%) were excluded by quality control. Across 1 comparable year, mean wave height was above the same-month mean of 1.6 ft and mean wave period was below the same-month mean of 12.7 seconds.

About Royan wave buoy

Royan is part of CANDHIS, France's national in-situ sea-state observatory coordinated by Cerema and its regional partners. The station lies off the mouth of the Gironde, where Atlantic swell meets a wide, shallow and strongly tidal estuary beside the resort coastline of Royan.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
