Period Summary
Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says
1,466 wave-buoy observations covered all 31 days. Typical wave height was 1.2 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.5–2.2 ft), while mean average of more than one wave period type was 6 seconds (10th–90th percentile 3.8–9.5 seconds). Typical calculated wave power was approximately 0.4 kW/m (10th–90th percentile 0.1–1.1 kW/m), derived from significant wave height and energy period. 22 of 2,932 checked values (0.8%) were excluded by quality control. Across 3 comparable years, mean wave height was above the same-month mean of 1.1 ft and mean wave period was below the same-month mean of 7.8 seconds.

About Royan wave buoy
Royan is part of CANDHIS, France's national in-situ sea-state observatory coordinated by Cerema and its regional partners. The station lies off the mouth of the Gironde, where Atlantic swell meets a wide, shallow and strongly tidal estuary beside the resort coastline of Royan.
Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
