Period Summary
Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says
592 wave-buoy observations covered 13 of 31 days (42%). Typical wave height was 3.2 ft (10th–90th percentile 1–14.2 ft), while mean average of more than one wave period type was 9 seconds (10th–90th percentile 5.8–11.1 seconds). Mean water temperature was 4.5°C (10th–90th percentile 3.2–5.2°C). 4 of 2,318 checked values (0.2%) were excluded by quality control. Across 8 comparable years, mean wave height was above the same-month mean of 2.9 ft and mean wave period was above the same-month mean of 8.4 seconds.

About Hornsea wave buoy
Hornsea is a Channel Coastal Observatory wave station off the rapidly eroding Holderness coast of East Yorkshire. Its North Sea record provides local wave context for Hornsea's defended frontage and the adjacent soft-cliff coastline, where storms drive substantial shoreline change.
Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread, wave power and sea temperature.
Provider-reported wave power.Approximate wave power calculated from significant wave height and energy period.Approximate mean including provider-reported and calculated wave power.
