About Estaca de Bares wave buoy
Estaca de Bares is a Puertos del Estado REDEXT deep-water buoy north of Galicia, near the meeting point of the Atlantic Ocean and Bay of Biscay. Operational since 1996, its exposed position provides a long offshore reference for the rugged north Galician coast before waves encounter shallow water.
Its current data source reports wave height, wave period and wave direction.
Provider-reported wave power.Approximate wave power calculated from significant wave height and energy period.Approximate mean including provider-reported and calculated wave power.
