Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

1,488 wave-buoy observations covered all 31 days. Typical wave height was 2.7 ft (10th–90th percentile 1.4–4.5 ft), while mean average of more than one wave period type was 5.9 seconds (10th–90th percentile 3.4–10 seconds). Mean water temperature was 7.9°C (10th–90th percentile 7.1–8.5°C). 15 of 5,933 checked values (0.3%) were excluded by quality control. Across 1 comparable year, mean wave height was above the same-month mean of 2.7 ft and mean wave period was below the same-month mean of 8.4 seconds.

About Spurn Point wave buoy

Spurn Point is a Channel Coastal Observatory wave station off the narrow spit at the mouth of the Humber. It records North Sea conditions beside a highly mobile coastal landform and provides context for the estuary entrance, nearby shipping routes and the exposed southern Holderness coast.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
