Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

1,435 wave-buoy observations covered all 30 days. Typical wave height was 2 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.8–3.6 ft), while mean average of more than one wave period type was 6.2 seconds (10th–90th percentile 3.2–10.3 seconds). Mean water temperature was 17.3°C (10th–90th percentile 16.9–17.8°C). 14 of 5,721 checked values (0.2%) were excluded by quality control. Across 9 comparable years, mean wave height was below the same-month mean of 2.3 ft and mean wave period was above the same-month mean of 5.7 seconds.

About Chapel Point wave buoy

Chapel Point is a Channel Coastal Observatory wave station off the Lincolnshire coast near Chapel St Leonards. Its shallow North Sea setting records conditions approaching a low-lying, heavily managed sandy frontage north of Skegness, supporting flood and erosion monitoring.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread, wave power and sea temperature.
