Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

984 wave-buoy observations covered 21 of 31 days (68%). Typical wave height was 3.4 ft (10th–90th percentile 2.5–4.5 ft), while mean peak wave period was 9.8 seconds (10th–90th percentile 6.3–12.4 seconds). Typical calculated wave power was approximately 4.2 kW/m (10th–90th percentile 2–8.1 kW/m), derived from significant wave height and energy period. 1 of 2,952 checked values (0%) were excluded by quality control. Across 2 comparable years, mean wave height was above the same-month mean of 3.2 ft and mean wave period was above the same-month mean of 8.2 seconds.

About Noirmoutier wave buoy

Noirmoutier is a CANDHIS directional buoy west of the low-lying island on the Vendée coast, operated within France's national in-situ sea-state observatory. Its position helps distinguish offshore Atlantic forcing from the sheltering and shallow-water effects around Noirmoutier and Bourgneuf Bay.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
