Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

1,223 wave-buoy observations covered 26 of 30 days (87%). Typical wave height was 3 ft (10th–90th percentile 1.4–7.6 ft), while mean peak wave period was 8.7 seconds (10th–90th percentile 5.7–11.6 seconds). Typical calculated wave power was approximately 2.6 kW/m (10th–90th percentile 0.7–21.5 kW/m), derived from significant wave height and energy period. 10 of 3,669 checked values (0.3%) were excluded by quality control. Across 2 comparable years, mean wave height was below the same-month mean of 4.3 ft and mean wave period was below the same-month mean of 10.3 seconds.

About Noirmoutier wave buoy

Noirmoutier is a CANDHIS directional buoy west of the low-lying island on the Vendée coast, operated within France's national in-situ sea-state observatory. Its position helps distinguish offshore Atlantic forcing from the sheltering and shallow-water effects around Noirmoutier and Bourgneuf Bay.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
