About Looe Bay wave buoy

Looe Bay is a National Network Datawell Directional WaveRider off southeast Cornwall. First deployed in June 2009, it records the wave climate entering the bay and the approaches to Looe, an area partly sheltered from Atlantic swell by the Cornish peninsula; a separate coastal station supplies local weather context.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.

Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

48 wave-buoy observations were recorded during the day. Typical wave height was 3 ft (10th–90th percentile 2.6–4 ft), while mean peak wave period was 7.6 seconds (10th–90th percentile 5.9–8.3 seconds). Mean water temperature was 13.8°C (10th–90th percentile 13.8–13.9°C). All 192 checked values passed quality control.
