Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

1,484 wave-buoy observations covered all 31 days. Typical wave height was 0.9 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.6–2.2 ft), while mean reported wave period; measurement type unavailable was 4 seconds (10th–90th percentile 3–5 seconds). Mean water temperature was 13.9°C (10th–90th percentile 12.3–16.7°C). 3 of 5,936 checked values (0.1%) were excluded by quality control. Across 15 comparable years, mean wave height was below the same-month mean of 1.6 ft and mean wave period was below the same-month mean of 7 seconds.

About Penzance wave buoy

Penzance is a Datawell Directional WaveRider station in Mount's Bay off west Cornwall. First deployed by the National Network in April 2007, it records the comparatively sheltered wave climate on the bay's western side. Available observations include wave height, period and direction, sea temperature and calculated wave power.
