Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

1,440 wave-buoy observations covered all 30 days. Wave period types differ within this period. Use the separate period rows in the observation table; a combined period summary and historical comparison are withheld. Typical wave height was 5.5 ft (10th–90th percentile 2.2–9.1 ft). Mean water temperature was 13.1°C (10th–90th percentile 12.1–14.5°C). 7 of 5,722 checked values (0.1%) were excluded by quality control. Across 6 comparable years, mean wave height was above the same-month mean of 3 ft.

About Rustington wave buoy

Rustington is a National Network Datawell Directional WaveRider in about 9.9 metres of water off West Sussex. First deployed on 15 July 2003, it provides a long nearshore record for the low-lying frontage between Littlehampton and Worthing, where beaches form an important part of the coastal defences.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
