Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

1,124 wave-buoy observations covered 24 of 30 days (80%). Wave period types differ within this period. Use the separate period rows in the observation table; a combined period summary and historical comparison are withheld. Typical wave height was 0.5 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.1–1.4 ft). Mean water temperature was 17.6°C (10th–90th percentile 17.4–17.8°C). 6 of 4,396 checked values (0.1%) were excluded by quality control. Across 5 comparable years, mean wave height was below the same-month mean of 1.4 ft.

About Weston Bay wave buoy

Weston Bay is a National Network Datawell Directional WaveRider in the upper Bristol Channel off Weston-super-Mare. Deployed in September 2009, it builds a record in a shallow, strongly tidal estuary where extensive intertidal flats and a limited seaward fetch influence the local sea state.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
