About Weston Bay wave buoy

Weston Bay is a National Network Datawell Directional WaveRider in the upper Bristol Channel off Weston-super-Mare. Deployed in September 2009, it builds a record in a shallow, strongly tidal estuary where extensive intertidal flats and a limited seaward fetch influence the local sea state.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.

Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

48 wave-buoy observations were recorded during the day. Wave period types differ within this period. Use the separate period rows in the observation table; a combined period summary and historical comparison are withheld. Typical wave height was 1.3 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.4–2.2 ft). Mean water temperature was 13.6°C (10th–90th percentile 13.3–13.9°C). All 192 checked values passed quality control.
