Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

1,485 wave-buoy observations covered all 31 days. Wave period types differ within this period. Use the separate period rows in the observation table; a combined period summary and historical comparison are withheld. Typical wave height was 1.1 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.6–2.1 ft). Mean water temperature was 7.3°C (10th–90th percentile 7–7.8°C). 10 of 5,057 checked values (0.2%) were excluded by quality control. Across 2 comparable years, mean wave height was below the same-month mean of 1.6 ft.

About Weymouth wave buoy

Weymouth is a National Network Datawell Directional WaveRider in about 10.6 metres of water off Dorset. First deployed on 18 December 2006, it records the relatively sheltered wave climate of Weymouth Bay and the approaches east of Portland; a separate station on Portland supplies local weather context.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
