About Bideford Bay wave buoy

Bideford Bay is a National Network Datawell Directional WaveRider in about 11 metres of water off north Devon. Deployed in June 2009, it records Atlantic waves entering the broad bay between Hartland Point and Morte Point, with its shore receiver hosted by RNLI Appledore.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.

Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

48 wave-buoy observations were recorded during the day. Wave period types differ within this period. Use the separate period rows in the observation table; a combined period summary and historical comparison are withheld. Typical wave height was 3 ft (10th–90th percentile 2.6–4 ft). Mean water temperature was 16.8°C (10th–90th percentile 16.7–16.9°C). 1 of 190 checked values (0.5%) were excluded by quality control.
