Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

1,439 wave-buoy observations covered all 30 days. Wave period types differ within this period. Use the separate period rows in the observation table; a combined period summary and historical comparison are withheld. Typical wave height was 1.3 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.7–2.3 ft). Mean water temperature was 14.4°C (10th–90th percentile 12.9–15.9°C). 5 of 5,702 checked values (0.1%) were excluded by quality control. Across 1 comparable year, mean wave height was the same as the same-month mean of 1.4 ft.

About Folkestone wave buoy

Folkestone is a National Network Datawell Directional WaveRider in about 13 metres of water off Kent. Deployed in July 2003, it provides a long record for the eastern English Channel near Folkestone and the Dover Strait, with a separate shore station supplying local weather context.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
