Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

720 wave-buoy observations covered all 30 days. Typical wave height was 6.2 ft (10th–90th percentile 3.6–12.5 ft), while the reported wave period averaged 6.2 seconds (10th–90th percentile 5–8 seconds). Typical wind was 13.9 mph (10th–90th percentile 8.1–25.3 mph) and mean water temperature was 13.5°C (10th–90th percentile 13–14.1°C). 8 of 3,600 checked values (0.2%) were excluded by quality control. Across 2 comparable years, mean wave height was above the same-month mean of 7.2 ft and mean wave period was the same as the same-month mean of 6.2 seconds.

About K1 wave buoy

K1 (WMO 62029) is a UK Met Office ocean buoy in the Atlantic approaches, southwest of Ireland. Its exposed position provides an early view of weather and sea conditions carried towards Ireland and western UK waters, well before they encounter the continental shelf or coast.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread, wind conditions and sea temperature.
