Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

205 wave-buoy observations covered 9 of 31 days (29%). Historical wave-period comparison is unavailable because matching period types have not been established. Typical wave height was 0 ft; wave-period data were unavailable. Typical wind was 11.4 mph (10th–90th percentile 4.7–20.8 mph) and mean water temperature was 12.2°C (10th–90th percentile 11.9–12.6°C). 246 of 1,025 checked values (24%) were excluded by quality control. Across 9 comparable years, mean wave height was below the same-month mean of 5.7 ft.

About K7 wave buoy

K7 (WMO 64046) is a UK Met Office ocean buoy west of Shetland in the North Atlantic. Its exposed position monitors systems approaching the Northern Isles and provides rare in-situ context for forecasts across the deep waters between Scotland, Iceland and the Norwegian Sea.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread, wind conditions and sea temperature.
