Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

694 wave-buoy observations covered all 30 days. Typical wave height was 1.3 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.6–5.6 ft), while the reported wave period averaged 4 seconds (10th–90th percentile 3–5 seconds). Typical wind was 0 mph and mean water temperature was 17.5°C (10th–90th percentile 16.7–18.3°C). All 3,470 checked values passed quality control. Across 8 comparable years, mean wave height was below the same-month mean of 2.1 ft and mean wave period was below the same-month mean of 6.9 seconds.

About Looe Bay wave buoy

Looe Bay is a National Network Datawell Directional WaveRider off southeast Cornwall. First deployed in June 2009, it records the wave climate entering the bay and the approaches to Looe, an area partly sheltered from Atlantic swell by the Cornish peninsula; a separate coastal station supplies local weather context.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
