Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

1,488 wave-buoy observations covered all 31 days. Typical wave height was 1.1 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.5–2.1 ft), while mean average of more than one wave period type was 5.6 seconds (10th–90th percentile 2.8–9.8 seconds). Mean water temperature was 11.6°C (10th–90th percentile 10.3–13.5°C). 11 of 5,903 checked values (0.2%) were excluded by quality control.

About Minehead wave buoy

Minehead is a National Network Datawell Directional WaveRider in the Bristol Channel off Somerset. First deployed in December 2006, it represents the relatively sheltered Minehead frontage, where the long fetch of the channel and strong tidal regime shape a different wave climate from the open Atlantic coast.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
