Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

736 wave-buoy observations covered all 31 days. Historical wave-period comparison is unavailable because matching period types have not been established. Typical wave height was 2 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.3–4.9 ft), while the reported wave period averaged 6 seconds (10th–90th percentile 5–7 seconds). Typical wind was 21.9 mph (10th–90th percentile 6.9–36.2 mph) and mean water temperature was 11.6°C (10th–90th percentile 10.9–12.6°C). 78 of 3,680 checked values (2.1%) were excluded by quality control. Across 8 comparable years, mean wave height was below the same-month mean of 3 ft.

About Sandettie wave buoy

Sandettie Lightship (WMO 62304) is a UK Met Office station in the Dover Strait near the Sandettie Bank. Its position provides an offshore reference in a narrow, shallow and strongly tidal channel, valuable to forecasting and navigation through one of the world's busiest shipping passages.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wind conditions and sea temperature.
