Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

1,484 wave-buoy observations covered all 31 days. Wave period types differ within this period. Use the separate period rows in the observation table; a combined period summary and historical comparison are withheld. Typical wave height was 1.5 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.3–4.5 ft). Mean water temperature was 8.3°C (10th–90th percentile 7.6–9.1°C). 3 of 5,590 checked values (0.1%) were excluded by quality control. Across 9 comparable years, mean wave height was above the same-month mean of 1.1 ft.

About Weston Bay wave buoy

Weston Bay is a National Network Datawell Directional WaveRider in the upper Bristol Channel off Weston-super-Mare. Deployed in September 2009, it builds a record in a shallow, strongly tidal estuary where extensive intertidal flats and a limited seaward fetch influence the local sea state.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
