Sennen and Gwynver surf guide

Land's End, Cornwall

Sennen Cove and Gwynver are adjoining sections of a long west-facing sweep near Land's End. They join across the sand at low tide, but their access and character differ: Sennen has village facilities and an easy beach approach, while Gwynver lies below steep cliffs and a demanding path.

How the beach surfs

Both beaches face the Atlantic and pick up plenty of swell. Sennen has multiple shifting banks and can offer friendlier peaks on smaller, patrolled days. Gwynver is the more remote line-up and is popular with experienced surfers. The sand may connect at low water, but wave size, rips and the practical exit can differ between the two beaches.

Access and orientation

Plan the access to each beach separately. Sennen has parking, facilities and a direct approach from the village. Gwynver has limited parking above the cliffs and a steep footpath down to the sand, followed by a hard climb back. The walk between the beaches is tide-dependent, so do not rely on the sand remaining open for your return.
