Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

571 wave-buoy observations covered 24 of 31 days (77%). Typical wave height was 6.7 ft (10th–90th percentile 4.4–12 ft), while the reported wave period averaged 11.9 seconds (10th–90th percentile 9–14 seconds). Mean water temperature was 8.7°C (10th–90th percentile 8.2–9.3°C). 12 of 2,284 checked values (0.5%) were excluded by quality control. Across 4 comparable years, mean wave height was above the same-month mean of 6.2 ft and mean wave period was above the same-month mean of 11.6 seconds.

About Bideford Bay wave buoy

Bideford Bay is a National Network Datawell Directional WaveRider in about 11 metres of water off north Devon. Deployed in June 2009, it records Atlantic waves entering the broad bay between Hartland Point and Morte Point, with its shore receiver hosted by RNLI Appledore.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
