Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

691 wave-buoy observations covered all 30 days. Historical wave-period comparison is unavailable because matching period types have not been established. Typical wave height was 1.4 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.7–3.1 ft), while the reported wave period averaged 9 seconds (10th–90th percentile 4–17 seconds). Mean water temperature was 9.2°C (10th–90th percentile 7.5–10.7°C). 9 of 2,764 checked values (0.3%) were excluded by quality control. Across 4 comparable years, mean wave height was above the same-month mean of 1.3 ft.

About Boscombe wave buoy

Boscombe is a National Network Datawell Directional WaveRider in about 10 metres of water off Bournemouth. First deployed in July 2003, it provides one of the network's longest nearshore records and a reference for the heavily managed beaches of Poole Bay on England's central south coast.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
