Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

741 wave-buoy observations covered all 31 days. Historical wave-period comparison is unavailable because matching period types have not been established. Typical wave height was 0.7 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.4–1.7 ft), while the reported wave period averaged 7.7 seconds (10th–90th percentile 4–15 seconds). Mean water temperature was 12.9°C (10th–90th percentile 10.7–14.8°C). 17 of 2,964 checked values (0.6%) were excluded by quality control. Across 4 comparable years, mean wave height was below the same-month mean of 1.4 ft.

About Boscombe wave buoy

Boscombe is a National Network Datawell Directional WaveRider in about 10 metres of water off Bournemouth. First deployed in July 2003, it provides one of the network's longest nearshore records and a reference for the heavily managed beaches of Poole Bay on England's central south coast.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
