Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

1,481 wave-buoy observations covered all 31 days. Historical wave-period comparison is unavailable because matching period types have not been established. Typical wave height was 1 ft (10th–90th percentile 0.5–2.1 ft), while the reported wave period averaged 4 seconds (10th–90th percentile 3–5 seconds). Mean water temperature was 8.5°C (10th–90th percentile 7.9–9.3°C). 1 of 5,924 checked values (0%) were excluded by quality control. Across 11 comparable years, mean wave height was below the same-month mean of 2 ft.

About Boscombe wave buoy

Boscombe is a National Network Datawell Directional WaveRider in about 10 metres of water off Bournemouth. First deployed in July 2003, it provides one of the network's longest nearshore records and a reference for the heavily managed beaches of Poole Bay on England's central south coast.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread and sea temperature.
