Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

1,482 wave-buoy observations covered all 31 days. Typical wave height was 6.7 ft (10th–90th percentile 1.3–11.9 ft), while mean average of more than one wave period type was 9.9 seconds (10th–90th percentile 6.3–13.8 seconds). Typical wind was 0 mph and mean water temperature was 14.1°C (10th–90th percentile 13.3–15.2°C). 8 of 6,127 checked values (0.1%) were excluded by quality control. Across 10 comparable years, mean wave height was above the same-month mean of 5 ft and mean wave period was below the same-month mean of 10.5 seconds.

About Perranporth wave buoy

Perranporth is a National Network Datawell Directional WaveRider in about 14 metres of water off Cornwall's exposed north coast. First deployed on 18 December 2006, it records Atlantic swell approaching Perranporth and neighbouring beaches; a separate shore station supplies the local weather context.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread, wave power and sea temperature.

Metrics are rows; days run left to right.
