Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

91 wave-buoy observations covered 4 of 31 days (13%). Typical wave height was 6.7 ft (10th–90th percentile 5.6–9.2 ft), while mean peak wave period was 9.3 seconds (10th–90th percentile 6.8–12.5 seconds). Typical wind was 19.7 mph (10th–90th percentile 14.7–19.7 mph) and mean water temperature was 11.3°C (10th–90th percentile 11.1–11.4°C). 1 of 546 checked values (0.2%) were excluded by quality control. Across 5 comparable years, mean wave height was below the same-month mean of 13.1 ft and mean wave period was below the same-month mean of 10.2 seconds.

About M3 wave buoy

M3 (WMO 62092) is part of the Irish Marine Data Buoy Observation Network, managed by the Marine Institute in collaboration with Met Éireann. Its exposed Atlantic position off southwest Ireland, west of Cork, provides an upstream reference for ocean systems approaching the south and west coasts.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread, wind conditions and sea temperature.
