Period Summary

Programmatically generated summary. Hog Says

375 wave-buoy observations covered 16 of 28 days (57%). Typical wave height was 17.4 ft (10th–90th percentile 9.7–23.6 ft), while mean peak wave period was 13.4 seconds (10th–90th percentile 10.9–16.1 seconds). Typical wind was 22.4 mph (10th–90th percentile 13.7–31.4 mph). 1 of 1,660 checked values (0.1%) were excluded by quality control. Across 4 comparable years, mean wave height was above the same-month mean of 13.1 ft and mean wave period was above the same-month mean of 9.9 seconds.

About M3 wave buoy

M3 (WMO 62092) is part of the Irish Marine Data Buoy Observation Network, managed by the Marine Institute in collaboration with Met Éireann. Its exposed Atlantic position off southwest Ireland, west of Cork, provides an upstream reference for ocean systems approaching the south and west coasts.

Its current data source reports wave height, wave period, wave direction, directional spread, wind conditions and sea temperature.
